The Vegetable Plot
Ladies and Gentlestems, bulbs and girls, it’s time to shake your stems, do the jumping bean, and twist and sprout with the freshest bunch in town!
The Vegetable Plot is an award-winning musical group for kids and families that has been spreading its funky roots all over the world. Serving up a big, wriggling heap of catchy tunes, colorful characters, quizzes, dances, jokes, and vegetable-related puns, this soilful bunch will plant melodies in your head that will blossom for years to come.
Created by award-winning songwriter and storyteller Luke Escombe (aka Aspara Gus), The Vegetable Plot burst onto the Australian music scene in 2014, winning the prize for best kids’ show at the Sydney Fringe. Since then the project has become a hotbed for some of the tastiest homegrown talent in Australia, including folk group All Our Exes Live in Texas and singing sensation Alice Terry, making them a band that adults can enjoy just as much as kids. In fact, some of The Vegetable Plot's biggest fans admit to listening even when the little ones aren't around.
After four years in the soil, the band's long-awaited second album, Season Two, emerged at the end of 2019. Broc-full of songs about vegetables, bedtime routines, more vegetables, community gardens, farmer's markets, yet more vegetables, urban living, alien worlds, the cycles of life, herbs and spices, and all the essential vegetables you'll need for the holidays (including TWO songs about pumpkins), Season Two has taken the group to new heights, securing them a deal with ABC Kids and a recent support slot with The Wiggles.
So come and join Aspara Gus, Ru Barb, Sir Paul McCarrotney, and friends as they take you deep underground for a ride on the soil train and show you exactly why families across the world are embracing these funky food revolutionaries and their mission of love and peas.
